Varo is an iOS bouldering log for climbers in Taiwan. Record attempts and sends, track projects, and look back on your progress. Available in Traditional Chinese and English. ### Can I download it now? Varo is available on the App Store for iOS. ### Are my climbing logs public? Logs are private by default. Photos are stored privately and videos stay on your device. Other people only see what you choose to share. ### Can I book a gym through Varo? The directory helps you find gyms and their official contact links. Varo does not currently handle bookings. Confirm current prices, hours and availability with the gym. ## Climbing in Taiwan as a visitor ### Where can I go rock climbing or bouldering in Taipei? We list 15 indoor climbing and bouldering gyms in Taipei and 7 more in New Taipei. Open a city page for the map, addresses, opening hours and prices. ### Which cities in Taiwan have climbing gyms? 51 gyms across 15 cities and counties. The most are in Taipei (15), New Taipei (7), Taoyuan (5), Taichung (5). ### How much is a day pass at a climbing gym in Taiwan? Published day passes at the 11 gyms that list prices run NT$320–550, with weekends sometimes a little more. Several also sell cheaper afternoon or late-evening passes. Prices change, so check the gym’s own page before you go. ### Can I rent climbing shoes? Yes. 7 gyms list shoe rental in their published prices, at NT$50–100; for the rest, ask the gym. ### Do I need to book, or can I just walk in? It depends on the gym, and we haven’t confirmed walk-in rules for each one. Intro sessions and classes are usually booked in advance; 6 gyms take bookings online (Rezio, 17FIT or BeClass). Each gym page links to its official Facebook, Instagram or website, the quickest way to ask. ### I’ve never climbed. Is it a good thing to do in Taipei on a rainy day? Bouldering needs no ropes, partner or experience, and it’s indoors. 12 gyms in Taipei and New Taipei mention intro sessions for first-timers. ### Is the gym information in English? Yes: hours, prices, classes and notes are translated. Gym names and addresses stay in Chinese, as they appear on signs. Paste the address into Google Maps or show it to a taxi driver, or tap Directions on any gym page. ### What about outdoor climbing in Taiwan? This directory covers gyms. Taiwan’s best-known outdoor crag is Long Dong (龍洞), sandstone sea cliffs on the northeast coast of New Taipei, best climbed with a local guide or club. ## Gym data and citation guidance - Dataset review date: 2026-10-07. This is a directory-level review date, not verification of each gym or field by its operator. - Cite the individual gym page. Preserve its source notes, conflicting information and unconfirmed operating status. - Missing information means unknown, not free or unavailable. An omitted weekday does not mean the gym is closed. - Official contact links are for checking current announcements, not proof that every field came from those pages. - No live opening status, booking availability or reservation service is provided. operating status unconfirmed ## FAQ ### Report a problem or send feedback in the app Go to Me → Settings and choose “Feedback” or “Report a Problem”. The app attaches version info so we can find the cause faster. ### How do I sign in? VARO uses Sign in with Apple. You can choose to hide your email, in which case we only receive Apple’s relay address. ### Can other people see my logs? By default, only you can. Photos are kept in private storage, videos stay on your phone, and others only see what you choose to share. See the Privacy Policy for details. ### Where are my videos? Will I lose them on a new phone? Videos stay on your phone and are never uploaded; VARO only keeps a thumbnail and details such as length. If you delete the app, the videos can no longer be played. When you move to a new phone with an iCloud backup or Quick Start, they usually come along. Cloud backup is planned. ### A photo failed to upload Routes with a failed upload show a red retry badge; tap it to upload again. Files are kept on your phone first, so uploads also resume automatically once you’re back online or signed in again. ### I can’t find my gym If your gym doesn’t show up in search, you can add it as a private location that only you can see. You’re also welcome to email us the gym’s name and address, and we’ll add it as soon as we can. ### How do I delete my account? In the app, go to Me → Settings → Delete Account. Your profile, logs, photos and the videos VARO keeps on this phone are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered, and VARO’s Sign in with Apple authorization is revoked. If you can’t sign in, email support@getvaro.app and we’ll take care of it. ### Gym partnerships Run a climbing gym and want to talk about route info or working together?
